Located near Zliten City, Wadi Kaam Dam is a unique and beautiful place to visit. Unlike many freshwater dams inland, the water here is slightly salty because the wadi flows into the Mediterranean Sea just about 400 meters downstream. This makes it a special ecosystem where freshwater and saltwater species mix.

During my visit, we spent the day fishing, and it was an amazing experience. The dam is full of Tilapia, which are easy to catch and a lot of fun for beginners and kids alike. We also spotted shrimp in some shallow areas, which added another interesting dimension to fishing here.

The water level at Wadi Kaam can vary depending on the season. During the rainy months, the dam is full and looks stunning, with reflections of the sky and surrounding hills. In the dry season, the water can shrink, but there is usually still enough for fishing and small boating.

Wadi Kaam Dam is not only a great place for fishing but also a beautiful spot for camping and picnics. The area around the dam is calm, with small patches of trees and open space where you can set up tents or relax with friends. Unlike Wadi Ghan, which is hilly and dry, Wadi Kaam has a more lush environment near the water’s edge.

One thing to keep in mind is that the water is salty because the wadi’s end close to the sea. The flow from the dam into the Mediterranean can be unpredictable, so it’s better to enjoy the water from the shore.

Sunset at Wadi Kaam is spectacular. The golden light sparkles on the slightly salty water, and the hills and small trees around the dam turn soft shades of orange and pink. It’s a perfect way to end a day of fishing and exploring.

Whether you’re coming to catch Tilapia, see shrimp, enjoy nature, or camp with friends, Wadi Kaam Dam is a peaceful and picturesque spot near Zliten. Just bring your fishing gear, food, and water, and enjoy a day surrounded by nature and the gentle sounds of the wadi flowing toward the sea.
